NAS JAX Trip Day 1

The MHS cadets loaded up just before 8 a.m. for the trip from Mooresville to Jacksonville.  During the bus ride the students watched movies, chatted and slept.  We stopped for lunch at a rest area in Georgia and enjoyed the lovely weather with our brown bag lunches.  Another few hours of driving and we arrived in Jacksonville.

We passed the base on the way to the hotel, where the cadets unloaded the bags and had a quick stop.  At 1645 it was back on the bus to travel to the base.  We passed quickly through security then headed for the Galley to eat.  Dinner was a choice of meatloaf or roast chicken, served with rice pilaf or potatoes au gratin and carrots or peas.  Many students added a salad and/or dessert to their meal.

After dinner we headed to the NEX (Navy Exchange) to do some souvenir shopping and then to the on-base Bowling alley.  Captain, Officer Ruggerio, and even our bus drive William were strong contenders with Capt. Gibson having a career high 192 game.

Tomorrow we head out at 0800 to take a tour of the P-3 Squadron at the base.

Here's a video of the the Day 1 activities.
